One of the most common questions you will hear travelling around China is “Where are you from?”

This might be “你是哪国人?” or “你来自哪里?”. Both are asking where you come from.

你是哪国人？

小明：小红，你是英国人吗？

小红：我不是，我是美国人，你呢？

小明: 我是加拿大人，我爸爸是中国人，我妈妈是加拿大人。

小红：哦，我们班也有一个加拿大人。

小明：是吗？那下次我去找他玩儿。

 

 

小明：Xiao Hong, are you English?

小红：No I’m not. I am American. How about you?

小明: I am Canadian. My father is Chinese. My mother is Canadian

小红：Oh, there’s another Canadian in our class.

小明：Really? Next time I will look for them.
